Comfortable Tooth Extractions in Falcon
and Mandurah
In a best-case scenario, our Falcon dentist Dr Elvira Stender makes it a top priority to save and preserve your natural teeth. Unfortunately, that’s not always a possibility. Depending on your current situation, it may be more appropriate to have a tooth extracted (removed) instead of repaired.
Do I Need to Pull My Tooth?
Dental extractions are usually recommended during situations involving:
- Severely decayed teeth with little remaining tooth structure
- Emergencies, large fractures or severe pain
- Full mouth reconstruction involving dental implants or dentures
- Failed endodontic therapy
- Complex orthodontic treatment
- Advanced periodontal disease
- Infected or impacted wisdom teeth
What to Expect During Tooth Extractions
Removing a tooth can range from a simple visit to a complex oral surgery. After an exam and radiograph at our studio, we will assess the area to determine how straightforward the procedure will be.
In most cases, the immediate area round the tooth is numbed with local anaesthetic. The tooth is then gently rocked and elevated out of the supporting tissues.
Follow your home care instructions properly to avoid unwanted discomfort or infection. We recommend sticking to a soft diet for a few days after the procedure. Most people are able to return to work the next day.
After Your Tooth Removal
Unless the tooth being extracted is a THIRD molar (wisdom tooth), we recommend making a plan to replace it straightaway. With a restoration such as a dental implant or bridge, you can avoid unwanted tooth movement throughout your mouth while also restoring aesthetics to your smile.
